CDP Class of 1996 – 1998
B.S. Computer Information Systems
Here’s me in Germany in 2002, in front of the company’s liquid oxygen delivery vehicles. At the time,I was part of a team assigned to deploy the first release of an enterprise resource planning suite of applications.
When I graduated, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my degree. So I chose to do one CDP assignment in each of the company’s three major divisions. In doing so, I was able to get the broadest possible view of opportunities across the company.
I was assigned to all sorts of IT projects ranging from new technology evaluation to sales prospecting tools. But I was doing much more than developing IT skills. I was developing project management and communications skills that would benefit me throughout my career.
Today I work in the Internal Audit department, part of the company’s Finance organization. I started there five years ago as an IT systems security and controls auditor. I now manage a group of auditors who work to ensure that practices, procedures and policies are in compliance with government regulations and are properly safeguarding the company from fraud or error.
