CDP Class of 1985 – 1987
Universität Freiburg, Germany
While attending a national sales meeting in the U.S., I got the chance to spend an afternoon in the Sonoran Desert in Arizona.
I am living my dream.
Since the beginning, I’ve always wanted a career in Finance, especially in controllership. I also wanted to gain international work experience. When I learned that Air Products offered a CDP program for Finance and international assignments were a possibility, I decided to join the company.
My first assignment was in my home country, working with country managers to build up profit and loss forecasts and explaining monthly variances against the forecasts. I took a similar role in the U.K. for my second assignment.
I stayed in the U.K. for my first permanent assignment as a financial analyst and then returned to Germany for two managerial assignments.
A few years later, I landed my first job as a business controller and never looked back. That first position was in Belgium. I stayed in the country for a second assignment and then moved to another position in the Netherlands. Next, I took an assignment in the U.S. Today I’m working in Taiwan as the global Controller for our Electronics business.
