‘You get a whole spectrum of responsibility’
European Graduate Programme
The story so far
I’m currently on my first assignment as a Business Development Support with the Energy group. One of my recent projects involved working with several stakeholders, such as the process engineering team, operations, government relations, commercial, asset management, and marketing. Somehow, I became the owner of the project and led the efforts to a successful completion. It was a unique experience leading senior managers and getting work done to hit deadlines.
Why Air Products?
During my assessment day, I fell in love with the company, particularly with the people. Everyone was great, passionate and loving their workplace. Air Products is one of few companies, where you can get the whole spectrum of roles – from commercial development, design, commissioning to operations.
Air Products culture
My whole team is extremely enthusiastic about their jobs. The fact that people can take so much enjoyment out of work makes me wonder if I can call it work. It is a big enough company to have enough resources, but small enough not to get lost.
Outside work, I do a lot of volunteering so flexible working hours are incredibly valuable to me. I have been working with disabled children for almost ten years. I also volunteer with external partners, for example SATRO and STEMnet to promote STEM subjects amongst young people. Also, I have recently applied to become a Samaritans volunteer. I greatly appreciate that my managers at Air Products give me the flexibility and support to do these activities.
I like the fact, that people are willing to do things differently and tackle any challenge with eyes wide open, which gives me a large number of options for my future career. Happiness is an addictive drug, which Air Products has put me on.
