Global Corporate Challenge (GCC) Wellness Program

For a period of 100 days, employees from companies around the world, including Air Products in 2016, compete in teams of seven as the GCC takes them on a virtual journey around the world that will improve both their physical and psychological health. Employees are encouraged to increase their physical activity as measured through walking, swimming, biking, and other sports.

GCC provides employers with a simple and engaging way to create a true culture of health right across their business. Employees sign up to the GCC in teams of seven and in a single event can compete alongside more than 45,000 teams from up to 1,500 of the world’s most respected companies. Participating in teams ensures that employees feel supported, enjoy some friendly competition and have a sense of accountability that will push them on to do their best. Beyond the 100 days, GCC provides a 12-month platform to ensure that awareness, education and motivation can continue throughout the year.

May 25 was the first day of the competition and teams at Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, PA, as well as other facilities around the world kicked off the 100-day challenge with a group walk. Employees who assembled for the morning walk were pleasantly surprised when they were joined by the Chairman, President and CEO Seifi Ghasemi who blew the starting air horn and walked the entire 1.7 green mile trail with employees around the campus.

A brief video captures the essence of the wellness program's Kick Off Walk featuring Chairman Ghasemi, Paula Riola (Global Health & Wellness) and Joe Pietrantonio (VP, Environmental Health & Safety) as well as a cast of walking employees who began the wellness program's 100-day challenge off on the right foot.
