July 08, 2004 Lehigh Valley, Pa.
On Thursday 8th July, the Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire officially presented the Queen's Award for Enterprise: Innovation 2004, to Air Products Special Gases Group, for its BIP® technology, at a ceremony held in Crewe.
The award celebrates a revolutionary innovation, as the BIP® technology is the first real change made in industrial gas cylinder technology for 100 years. The technology uses a patented method of removing impurities as the gas is withdrawn through a self-contained purifier built into a gas cylinder.
Graham Rhodes, Vice President Merchant Gases, Air Products UK, said "We are incredibly proud of receiving this award today. It is a wonderful recognition for all our employees who are involved in the BIP® technology. It is testimony to their hard work and commitment."
Graham added: "The award validates an impressive commercial track record, as sales of BIP® cylinders have grown tenfold over the last five years and has become the new analytical industry standard. "
The Queen's Award for Enterprise is the UK's most prestigious award for business performance.
