Lawrence S. Smith, executive vice president and co-chief financial officer of Comcast Corporation, was elected today to Air Products' (NYSE:APD) board of directors.

Smith, 57, joined Comcast in 1988 and has served as executive vice president and co-chief financial officer since 2002. Previously, he served as chief financial officer of Advanta Corp., a financial services firm with assets of $1.28 billion. Smith also worked in the Philadelphia office of Arthur Andersen & Co. for 18 years, where he served as a tax partner and headed its Philadelphia international business practice and its merger and acquisition practice.
Smith holds a bachelor's degree in finance from Ithaca College. His community activities include board positions with Meadowood Corporation and the YMCA of Greater Philadelphia and Vicinity.
