News ReleaseAir Products To Join Board Of European Hydrogen Association

January 24, 2005 Lehigh Valley, Pa.

Air Products has taken a leading presence in the emerging hydrogen energy economy through representation on the board of the European Hydrogen Association (EHA), after the EHA initiated the first steps towards promoting hydrogen on a higher level.

The EHA, which previously had represented national hydrogen associations in Europe, has decided to step up its activity and launch an ambitious programme to raise the awareness and use of hydrogen for the coming years. As part of this activity, the EHA has agreed on changes to welcome new direct membership from major players in the European industrial hydrogen market, including Air Products, Air Liquide, Shell Hydrogen and the BOC Group.

Air Products will be represented by Ian Williamson, who head's the company's Future Energy Solutions group. Ian commented, "Air Products is very pleased to be playing a major role in this new stage for the EHA".

This is not the first time that Air Products have been involved with ground-breaking initiatives towards a hydrogen future, having supplied fuelling technology to Shell Hydrogen's Benning Road facility in Washington DC, in November 2004.

"We see the organisation as supporting a number of ventures in the development of the hydrogen energy market in Europe", continued Ian. "This includes public awareness campaigns, communicating the benefits of hydrogen based energy systems to decision makers and coordinating activities with national hydrogen associations across Europe".
