Air Products (NYSE:APD) has announced the following executive changes: Glenn E. Beck has been named vice president, Enterprise Operations and chief information officer, effective May 2007. In addition to his current responsibility for global Information Technology (IT), Beck also will assume responsibility for the Energy and Materials, Customer Engagement and Supply Chain Management organizations. These organizations currently report to Bill Cantwell, who will retire in May. Beck joined Air Products in 1974 as a participant in the company’s Career Development Program and subsequently held positions in IT operations, application development and project management. Beck was instrumental in the development of the company’s customer service center and implementation of the primary order systems for the gases and chemicals businesses. He also led all of the IT associated with the company’s SAP initiative, an enterprise-wide business software solution. Beck is a Lehigh University graduate with adegree in management science and has completed the Management Information Resource program at Harvard University.
Thomas J. Ward has been named vice president, North America Merchant Gases, effective August 2007. He will have oversight for the growth and profitability of the company’s Merchant Gases division in the U.S. and Canada. Ward joined Air Products in 1981 as a development engineer and subsequently held positions in product management and global marketing, as well as general management within the company’s gases businesses. Ward oversaw the first four releases of SAP in his position as director of SAP. Previously, Ward was vice president, Integrated Supply Chain. He currently is leading the integration of the company’s acquisition of BOC’s Polish industrial gases and equipment business. Ward succeeds Mike McNallen, who will retire in August.
