Air Products has been awarded another prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation 2007 for its Integra® cylinder and its Maxx™ range of gases, through its Packaged Gases team.
The innovative Integra cylinders and the Maxx gases are used for welding and cutting metals – from carbon and stainless steels, to aluminium and alloys. They bring improved safety, quality, productivity and innovation to a traditionally mature market that has seen very little change for the last century.
Since the launch some five years ago, the Integra cylinders have become the reference for the welding market, not only within the UK, but across Europe. The award in the ‘continuous innovation’ category recognises the ongoing nature of the innovation, such as the recently introduced oxy-acetylene versions, which offer significant safety benefits over conventional cylinders.
Professor John Irven, Director of Technology, Air Products Packaged Gases, said: “We are extremely proud to receive the Queen’s Award for Innovation, for our Integra cylinders and Maxx gases. We have been listening to our customers’ requirements and developed cylinders that are lighter, easier to handle and safer with their integrated valve and gas control functions, and shielding gases that give improved environmental and safety performance, whilst increasing quality and productivity”
Ivo Bols, Vice President, Air Products Packaged Gases, concludes: “The Queen’s Award for Innovation is for each and all our employees who have been involved in the Integra cylinder and Maxx gases success. It demonstrates our team is true to its value of building lasting relationships with their customers based on understanding, integrity and passion.”
It is the 8th award received by Air Products, since 1968 and the 2nd for innovation.
