Air Products (NYSE:APD), a US Fortune 500 company and a leading global supplier of industrial gases and performance materials, has been presented the “2014 Best Brand Image Award” at the 3rd China Finance Summit held in Beijing on June 20 in recognition of its contribution to China’s economic and social development. Air Products was among 40 leading companies from various industries receiving the award. Other winners included Unilever Shiseido and Johnson & Johnson (China).

Launched in 2012, the China Finance Summit is an annual event focusing on the country’s macro economy and finance industry and is co-organized by mainstream media to interpret economic trends and convey business values. Attendees include leaders from media, financial institutions, and multinational and local corporations. The theme of this year’s summit was “The Glory and the Dream”. China.com, Chinanews.com, Shaanxi Satellite TV, National Business Daily, China Trade News, Asia Business Leaders and Manager Magazine were some of the nearly 30 co-organizing local business and general media.

The judging panel comprised representatives from research institutes, consulting firms, academia and the media. Candidates were judged based on six criteria—company culture, social contribution, innovation capability, financial growth, brand influence and industry position. The organizer focused particularly on the future leading role that a company would play within its industry in driving the economic growth of China.

Air Products has been serving the China market for over 25 years with its leading edge technologies and solutions that help customers become more productive, energy efficient and sustainable. A responsible corporate citizen with a long-standing commitment to sustainability, Air Products took part in a variety of meaningful social responsibility initiatives and activities in 2013 including the sponsorship of China’s 2013 National University Chemistry Video Contest organized by the Association of International Chemical Manufacturers, China Chemical Society and Peking University to advocate green gas technologies for a better future; participation in the REACH (Resiliency Education: Advocacy Collaboration & Hope) program to develop teenagers’ strengths in middle schools in Shanghai through non-traditional subjects such as character, self-confidence, teamwork and emotional resilience; scholarship programs in nearly ten leading universities to cultivate talents; and driving the development of innovative solutions to support the sustainable growth of the industrial gas market.

Apart from this most recent award, Air Products was also rated among the “Top 100 Ideal Employers” by natural sciences talents in China for two consecutive years (2013 and 2014), and named a “Corporate Citizen Role Model” and granted the “2013 Green Chemical Award” by China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation (CPCIF) in recognition of its outstanding performance in sustainability.
