News ReleaseAir Products to Highlight Industrial Gas Supply and Process Optimization Solutions for Oil Recyclers at NORA

October 29, 2014 Lehigh Valley, Pa.

Air Products (NYSE:APD) will highlight its portfolio of industrial gas supply and process optimization solutions for the oil recycling industry at the 2014 NORA Conference & Trade Show in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, from November 5-7. Oil recyclers requiring hydrogen for hydrotreating and nitrogen for inerting and blanketing are encouraged to stop by booth #53 to speak with a knowledgeable Air Products representative about the most flexible, low-cost supply option for their specific processes.

Among Air Products’ economical supply options is the proprietary Cryogenic Hydrogen Compressor (CHC) system that provides operating flexibility for hydrogen flow rates up to 120,000 scfh (standard cubic feet per hour) and up to pressures of 10,000 psig (pounds per square inch gauge). The two-phase flow process captures gas formed through normal heat leak vaporization and deploys that gas back into the process, resulting in operating savings. This capability virtually eliminates vent losses from hydrogen storage. The unique CHC technology is also load-following, which means hydrogen supply can fluctuate to closely match changing customer demand requirements. These unique characteristics make the Air Products CHC system more efficient than traditional liquid hydrogen pumps.

Oil recyclers visiting Air Products booth #53 will also learn how the company’s new hydrogen lab can help them optimize their hydrotreatment processes. The lab, currently being built at the company’s corporate headquarters in Allentown, Pa., is scheduled to be operational in the third quarter of 2015. Air Products’ hydrogen lab will feature a series of hydrotreatment units that have been designed to test the hydrogenation of various feedstocks over continuous flow fixed-bed catalytic reactors. Air Products will use the hydrotreatment unit to evaluate for its customers the impact of feed quality, catalysts, and other operating parameters on product quality, throughput, and process economics.
