Facility Enhances Company’s Robust Nitrogen Supply Network, Further Increasing Reliability of Supply to Oilfield Services Customers
November 19, 2015 Lehigh Valley, Pa.
Air Products (NYSE:APD) today held a grand opening ceremony at its new liquid nitrogen production facility in Odessa, Texas. The Odessa facility, which has a 250 ton-per-day capacity, gives the company a leadership position in supplying oilfield services customers in the Permian Basin and Mid-Continent regions of the U.S. With the addition of this facility to Air Products’ robust supply network, the company has more liquid nitrogen plants serving the region than any other industrial gas company.
“The decision to build a new liquid nitrogen production facility here in Odessa was all about customer service and demonstrates our commitment to the oilfield services market,” said Marie Ffolkes, vice president-Americas for Industrial Gases at Air Products. “The Odessa facility strengthens Air Products’ existing nitrogen production and distribution network, enabling us to provide the oilfield services industry with a reliable, cost-effective, local supply. Our customers can count on Air Products to deliver product where they need it, when they need it.”
In addition to serving the Permian Basin area, the new facility in Odessa reinforces Air Products’ nitrogen supply network in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. This provides Air Products’ customers with increased supply reliability through the company’s extensive network of production plants, truck fleet, portable storage, and products staging areas to meet the dynamic needs of the oilfield services market.
Keeping a sharp focus on customers’ needs, Air Products designed its new Odessa liquid nitrogen production facility to offer customers a drive-through layout for safe and fast nitrogen loading; 24/7 order placement or customer pick-up; a frac coordinator to help ensure timely and optimal equipment and product supply; portable nitrogen storage units to improve supply availability at oilfield sites; and a local, dedicated sales support team.
Many distinguished guests attended the grand opening to join in the celebration and welcome Air Products to Odessa. The program consisted of several speakers, including State Senator Kel Seliger and Odessa Chamber president and CEO Mike George, as well as a ceremonial ribbon-cutting led by the Odessa Chamber Ambassadors. In addition, to celebrate Air Products’ entry into the community and demonstrate the company’s commitment to the health and vitality of the Permian Basin region, Air Products presented charitable donations to The West Texas Food Bank and Hillcrest School. The event wrapped up with a luncheon and brief tour of the facility.
Air Products has supplied nitrogen and oxygen for upstream oil and gas production and processing for more than 40 years through a variety of supply modes and the most comprehensive package of value-added technologies, services and equipment available.
