Company Shows Support for the Growth of High-end Equipment Manufacturing and Clean Energy Industries in China

September 21, 2017 Shanghai, China

Air Products (NYSE:APD), a U.S. Fortune 500 company and a world-leading industrial gases company, today presented its advanced gas application technologies for gas turbine machining and maintenance at the 2nd Annual Gas Turbine China Forum 2017, held in Shanghai, China, to demonstrate its commitment to supporting the growth of the country’s gas turbine market.

Gas turbine is a combustion engine used to generate electricity. It is widely used in high-end equipment manufacturing, such as shipbuilding and aerospace, as well as clean energy development, including natural gas power generation, natural gas compression, transportation, oil and gas, and more.

Driven by its huge population with high electricity demand and economic growth, China has emerged as one of the world’s major gas turbine markets. The increasing use of natural gas and clean energy advocated by the Chinese government also stimulates the rising demand for more efficient, durable and cleaner power engine systems. The gas turbine industry has been listed as a key development sector in the “13th Five-Year Plan” and “Made in China 2025 Strategy” to support the country’s high-end equipment manufacturing.

“Air Products is honored to play a role in supporting the robust development of China’s gas turbine market for clean energy and high-end equipment manufacturing industries,” commented Brandon Fu, vice president, Asia Strategy, Marketing and Technology for Industrial Gases at Air Products. “Combining over 75 years of our rich experience in gas application technologies and innovative solutions, we are contributing to a more innovative, efficient and environmentally friendly gas turbine machining and repairing process.”

Focusing on gas turbine applications and technical services, the Annual Gas Turbine China Forum is one of the most influential industry events in China, with over 300 participants from the gas turbine manufacturing and application segments.

At the forum, Air Products’ Dr. Fisher Yu, Asia senior gas applications expert for Industrial Gases, introduced the company’s innovative gas application technologies, high-quality gases and services that support the manufacturing and maintenance of gas turbines:

  • Thermal Spray Cooling and ICEFLY Technologies: By leveraging the cryogenic feature of liquid nitrogen, these technologies can greatly speed up the cooling process of metal parts, which consequently improve the efficiency of gas turbine manufacturing and repairing.
  • Air Products Express (APEX) Services: Designed for temporary nitrogen supply during peak usage or emergency situations, APEX Services provide fast, efficient and flexible nitrogen supply. APEX Services can be used in the cooling, purging, inerting and pressure testing processes for gas turbine maintenance.
  • Experis® Calibration Gas Mixtures: These high-quality gas mixtures are critical to ensuring accurate testing and analysis results for combustion monitoring of gas turbine boilers.

Air Products has been growing with China for 30 years and has established over 60 entities and 130 facilities around the country, serving many key industries listed in the “13th Five-Year Plan,” including high-end equipment manufacturing, electronics, energy, and more.
