The Société de Chimie Industrielle has awarded the 2017 biennial International Palladium Medal to Air Products Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Seifi Ghasemi for his distinguished contributions to the chemical industry, leadership, and personal record of enhancing the international aims and objectives of the Société de Chimie Industrielle.

A black-tie dinner was held in honor of Mr. Ghasemi on Thursday, June 1, 2017, in the Grand Ballroom of the Roosevelt Hotel in New York, where he received the award.
During his acceptance speech, Mr. Ghasemi acknowledged the many people who have helped him along the way. He first praised and thanked his wife, Ellen, who he described as a pillar of strength, encouragement and support in his life. He also paid tribute to his three most influential role models and mentors. Mr. Ghasemi concluded by sharing the most important lessons he has learned during his 40-year career and told an inspiring story about what drives him in his personal life.

Seifi Ghasemi/Air Products Scholarship
Société has designated one of its summer research scholarships as the Seifi Ghasemi/Air Products scholar for the next two years. Jacob Robinson, a student in the Columbia University Chemical Engineering program, will be designated as the Seifi Ghasemi/Air Products scholar for 2017. His research project is on membrane coated electrocatalysts to improve solar fuel generation include hydrogen. Since this will be a two year program; there will be a second student who will be awarded the scholarship in 2018.
