Optimum Compressor Controls for Closed Loop Refrigeration

This paper discusses compressor control for closed refrigeration systems used in LNG liquefaction.  Similarities and differences between open and closed systems are presented.  This paper focuses on the mixed refrigerant (MR) system frequently used in LNG liquefaction processes.  A simple model is used to demonstrate key features of open and closed refrigeration systems.

Yamal LNG: Meeting the Challenges of Natural Gas Liquefaction in the Arctic

The Yamal liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility is an integrated project located north of the arctic circle on the Yamal Peninsula in northern Russia. As this is the northern-most operating LNG facility in the world, this paper will cover the achievements of the project, including developing the largest Air Products AP-C3MR™ LNG Process train, constructing a highly modularized project in a harsh environment, and successfully loading the first cargo during the polar winter night.

Staying Ahead of the Curve

Port Manatee LNG Equipment Test FacilityAir Products manufactures its LNG equipment at a facility in Manatee County, Florida, where the company recently dedicated an LNG equipment test facility to develop designs for the next generation of innovative coil wound heat exchangers. With ready access to port services, the Port Manatee facility enables Air Products to manufacture LNG heat exchangers in a wide range of sizes to meet market demands. 

Air Products has also acquired the Rotoflow® turboexpander business from Baker Hughes (a GE company). The acquisition extends Air Products’ existing world-scale industrial gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) turboexpander capabilities into growing hydrocarbon, petrochemical and energy segments.
