For most products whose usefulness depends on their material characteristics, it is important to be able to monitor, control and adjust reaction conditions so as to optimize product performance. Air Products conducts both basic and applied research on the relationship between synthesis reaction conditions and the properties of the finished products, which enables us to improve the performance of existing products and develop new products.
A fundamental understanding of the physico-chemical relationships between molecular structure and gross material properties allows the directed development of new products. Air Products has attained world-class expertise in several classes of materials whose properties either enable or enhance the performance of a wide range of products. This expertise enables Air Products to tailor the molecular structure of additives to confer desired material properties in such widely varied classes as: epoxies, polyurethanes, surfactants, adhesives and coatings.
