Dear Customer,

We at Air Products continually update our plans to face many types of situations, including a health crisis. That way, we are best prepared to manage a range of scenarios.

The safety of our people and the reliability of our operations are top priorities but even with our strong safety record, operating in our industry is not without risk.

With today’s rapidly changing H1N1 virus situation, our Health Response Management Team meets regularly to review updates from the World Health Organization (WHO) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), to plan appropriate business actions.

These plans build on preventative and operational continuity measure. Highlights of our planning include:

  • Regular employee and stakeholder information to avoid risks and manage personal health.
  • The provision of Personal Protection Equipment for key front line employees.
  • A Global Network of Health Response Officers monitoring WHO alerts and adapting internal measures accordingly.
  • Working with our key suppliers and national Governments with a view to securing reliability of supply of critical materials, utilities and other services for our operations.
  • Teleworking, Netmeetings and other ways to reduce personal contacts.
  • Backup/contingency planning for critical staff.
Meanwhile, we have many of our best people preparing robust contingency plans, with the aim of meeting our commitments to our customers, as best we can.

For your additional reference, I have attached a copy of a presentation entitled “Preparing for a Global Health Crisis” which provides an overview of our health crisis preparations. I have also attached a link to our 2009 Corporate Responsibility Annual Report which describes our focus on Risk Management.
