Marketing and Technology Manager
Why did you join Air Products?
I joined the company because of the Ph.D. CDP program.
Why do you love working at Air Products? What is it that keeps you working at Air Products?
Within 6 months, I was implementing my new system identification and control technology at one of our air separation plants. I felt trusted and empowered and I have been able to retain these feelings after 20 years!
Please describe your career at Air Products to date.
I started as an advanced control engineer and moved to air separation technology. After 5 years of technical work, I wanted to be more involved in the business. I had my first commercial role within 3 months of that decision. I have had great commercial assignments since, and I now manage a marketing and commercial technology organization.
Tell me about the most intriguing/satisfying thing(s) you’ve been involved in since you’ve been at Air Products.
My most satisfying role was managing the oil field services (OFS) business because of the cutting-edge technology involved and the dynamic nature of the business. I was probably the first Air Products employee in Odessa TX selling Nitrogen to OFS. A year later, we built a brand-new plant in that geography!
What career advice would you give to those just starting out in their engineering careers?
Because you are full of ideas and energy coming out school, look for a company that will allow you to grow your wings, a company where you can make a difference being yourself.
Please explain what you do (in your current and/or previous job) contributes to sustainability?
My commercial technology team helps customers use our gases efficiently to improve product quality, increase productivity, and reduce emissions. We have a major role in the sustainability of our supply chain and customer operations.
