Alexis Rancel
IT Plant Computing Specialist

Why did you join Air Products?
I joined Air Products because of its extensive Career Development Program (CDP) and the opportunity.

Why do you love working at Air Products? What is it that keeps you working at Air Products?
The global connection is one of the things I love about working at Air Products. There is always room for change and growth within the organization.

Please describe your career at Air Products to date.
I started at Air Products in 2017 as an intern in IT Infrastructure working on Mobile Device Management (MDM). I continued to work as a co-op on the same team from 2017 until summer of 2018 when I began my first role as a CDP in IT Infrastructure Project Management. My role was specific to the implementation of SAP in our 5 Indura countries (Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Argentina, and Colombia). I am currently working in IT Plant Computing with a focus in data center migrations to the cloud (AWS).

Tell me about the most intriguing/satisfying thing(s) you’ve been involved in since you’ve been at Air Products.
Being given the opportunity to travel internationally to South America (Argentina, Colombia, and Ecuador) to setup devices and create connections with our global counterparts was an incredible experience. In my new role, domestic travel to sites such as the Santa Clara Plant in the bay area of California to physically support servers, kvms, and ICS machines has been extremely satisfying as well.

What career advice would you give to those just starting out in their engineering careers?
Be open to learning new things and connecting with as many different people as possible. If you open yourself to experiences and tasks that you may not normally take or are outside of your comfort zone, the opportunities that will be presented to you will change your life.

Please explain what you do (in your current and/or previous job) contributes to sustainability?
The biggest contribution to sustainability that I fulfill in my current position is that of safety and cyber security for our Process Control PCs and Servers. The Plant Computing team is dedicated to maintaining cyber security for Air Products Plants, OSCs, Pipeline Systems, and trailer fill systems, etc.
