Why did you join Air Products?
I was first exposed to Air Products as a Co-Op while in college, and ultimately decided to become a full-time employee through the Career Development Program (CDP) because of the ability to explore three different roles and the wide range of opportunities that I saw would be available to me.

Why do you love working at Air Products? What is it that keeps you working at Air Products?
I love working at Air Products because of the welcoming, supportive, and motivating people that I get to work with. I am surrounded by people that are driven team players who are always helping me to grow in my career. I am constantly being given new challenges and feel that my contributions are acknowledged and appreciated.

Please describe your career at Air Products to date. 
After completing three Co-Op assignments, I spent my first year in the CDP program working in our Customer Plant Support (CPS) group. I gained both technical and commercial experience by providing aftermarket services and spare parts to our customers that own and operate Air Products’ Sale of Equipment plants. In my second assignment, I was a Project Engineer working in our HyCO Site Services Organization in Southern California, supporting our West Coast HyCO plant outages. I served as the project lead for all of the capital improvement projects executed during the Martinez I turnaround. My final assignment supported both the proposal and product teams in the Process Gases Product Line. Currently, I am a Business Development Manager in our Equipment Sales and Plant Support (ESPS) organization, supporting the legacy CPS services business with the added scope of selling new Sale of Equipment standard plants to third party customers.   

Tell me about the most intriguing/satisfying thing(s) you’ve been involved in since you’ve been at Air Products.
In my second assignment at Air Products I was working as a HyCO Site Services Project Engineer. Within this role I was responsible for leading the execution of over 15 capital projects over the course of a year. Most of these projects were implemented during the same multi-week outage. The extensive scope and co-current nature of the multiple projects helped me to refine my time management and people management skills. I was grateful for the responsibility provided and appreciative of the support and guidance from my colleagues to lead the projects to completion. I felt a great sense of accomplishment and satisfaction at the end of the outage seeing the implementation of my years’ worth of hard work in one of our operating facilities.

In ESPS, I have been involved with the integration of the acquired Rotoflow brand of turboexpanders into Air Products’ existing turbomachinery product lines. Great efforts have been made by the team to rebrand our turbomachinery department as Rotoflow to our new and existing customers. It has been exciting to work with and watch the Rotoflow organization grow over the past year as we continue to deliver excellent service to our growing customer base.

What career advice would you give to those just starting out in their engineering careers?
My advice would be to always challenge yourself and continue to take on tasks or assignments that help you to grow as a person and as a professional. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and don’t be afraid to admit that you need help or have something new to learn. Get involved – either in a group within the company, or an external community group, that allows you to interact with other professionals or like-minded individuals. I find it is beneficial to network with individuals who you don’t interact with in your day-to-day job. It’s a great way to meet new people, learn new things, and hear about roles that may be of interest to you in the future.    

Please explain what you do (in your current and/or previous job) contributes to sustainability?
In Equipment Sales and Plant Support, we are constantly working with customers to support their industrial gas plants. Whether that’s providing them with services to help them operate or maintain their plant more effectively or providing them with upgraded or new equipment to help their process run more efficiently, we strive to help our customers improve their plant’s performance, all the while helping to deliver business to Air Products.
