On March 27, 2018, Air Products CEO Seifi Ghasemi attended the Saudi-U.S. CEO Forum with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Sa’ud. During the Forum, Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) Governor Ibrahim bin Abdul Rahman Al-Omar granted the investment license for Air Products’ industrial gases technology center in the Dhahran Techno Valley Science Park. The center will be a hub for Air Products to provide technology expertise as well as process safety, energy efficiency, reliability and operational excellence improvements in support of new industrial gas opportunities in the Kingdom and throughout the Middle East.
Air Products project management and procurement teams have been working with local architects to complete the preliminary stages of the new building design. This includes developing the aesthetic look of the new building to capture the essence of Air Products as a company, while also being sympathetic to the local environment and neighboring buildings within the Dhahran Techno Valley. The complete design of the building, including all the necessary construction details, is expected to take up to five months. The team expects to break ground late spring 2018.
In the meantime a temporary office has been established on the 5th floor of Zamil House, located near the Corniche in Al Khobar. This will be home to the Technology Center until the building at the Techno Valley is completed. This office will provide Air Products with a base from which to recruit and train technology resources in preparation for the move to the new building early in 2019. The temporary office can accommodate 30 staff members. The recruitment process is already underway for engineers, researchers and support staff.
