| ATLANTA, GA (October 27, 1993) -- An improved vinylacrylic resin designed to give superior performance in both interior and exterior architectural paints has been introduced by Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. A third-generation vinyl-acrylic, Flexbond® 381 Dev emulsion produces paint films with excellent toughness, scrub resistance, durability and improved gloss properties. Flexbond 381 Dev emulsion can be used in a variety of trade sales paints, including semigloss formulations, and was designed for improved performance when used with associative thickening agents.
Flexbond 381 Dev emulsion has been shown to perform well with similar scrub resistance and improved gloss in semigloss formulations when compared to new higher scrubbing competitive vinyl acrylics. Vinyl acrylics are widely used in waterbased architectural coatings because of their performance and cost competitiveness. Air Products' new vinyl acrylic emulsion builds on nearly 30 years of expertise since the company introduced the first vinyl acrylic emulsion for paints in the early 1960s.
Air Products' high scrub, improved gloss Flexbond 381 Dev emulsion for architectural paints is an example of the company's commitment to supplying the coatings industry with superior products, enabling customers to formulate low VOC (volatile organic compound) systems with enhanced performance.
Furthermore, Air Products has launched its Coatings Initiative, a comprehensive research and technical program focusing on providing unique, high performance coatings technologies to the coatings industry. This is in addition to Air Products' already large role as supplier of engineered raw materials for the coatings industry such as Surfnol® surfactants, epoxy curing agents, Airthane® prepolymers and polymer emulsions. |
