New Agreement Builds on Existing Distributor Relationship for Dow Corning® Z3MS™
LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa. (July 8, 2002) — Schumacher, a unit of Air Products and Chemicals, Inc.'s (NYSE:APD) global Electronics Division, today announced it has signed a long-term agreement with Dow Corning to serve as the global master distributor of three new liquid chemical vapor deposition (CVD) precursors—Z4MS™, ZTOMCATS™ and Z2DM™.
The new Dow Corning products are multifunctional silicon source liquids specifically designed for advanced CVD processes used to deposit thin film dielectrics such as passivation, etch stop, hard mask and copper diffusion barrier films. As the master distributor, Schumacher will package Dow Corning's precursors and will sell to end user customers and distributors through its worldwide distribution network.
The new alliance builds on an agreement between the companies under which Air Products serves as the worldwide master distributor of Dow Corning® Z3MS™ CVD Precursor (trimethylsilane), a high-performance electronic specialty gas that provides significant advantages over existing silane and tetraethyl orthosilicate-based CVD materials for manufacturers using high-performance interconnect processes.
Michael Hilton, vice president, Electronic Gases, Equipment and Services, noted that the enhanced alliance brings together Dow Corning's product development and manufacturing expertise and Air Products' applications experience, chemical delivery equipment and global supply chain capabilities to meet the demanding requirements of advanced semiconductor fabrication. "These products represent the highest quality and most reliable supply of liquid CVD precursors available, and we look forward to delivering the high-performance, solutions-focused materials customers have come to expect from us," he said.
"We have developed a leading supply position through our alliance with Air Products on Z3MS and we are certain that this new distribution agreement with Schumacher will allow Dow Corning to bring the most effective product offering to our customers," said Ian Thackwray, executive director of Dow Corning's Electronic Business. "This agreement ensures customers a reliable supply of high purity material solutions for each unique application and equipment need with global technical support. In addition, our agreement with Schumacher will enable us to supply our products in a cost-effective way to customers around the world."
