AIR PRODUCTS POLYMERS ANNOUNCES PRICE INCREASES FOR SEVERAL POLYMER EMULSIONS PRODUCTS

LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa. (July 12, 2002) — Air Products Polymers, L.P. today announced that effective, August 15, 2002, it plans to implement price increases for several of its emulsion products. The price adjustments, to be applied in North America markets only, have been driven by increased raw materials and feedstock costs in the manufacture of these products.

The products and price adjustments include:

  • An increase of two cents ($0.02) per wet pound for vinyl acetate homopolymer and copolymer emulsions, and all ethylene, vinyl chloride-based emulsions. These products are marketed by the company under the Airflex®, Flexbond®, and Vinac® trademarks. Air Products Polymers' Airflex, Flexbond, and Vinac emulsion products are used in markets and applications including coatings, adhesives, building products, nonwovens, paper, carpet and textiles.
  • An increase of three cents ($0.03) per wet pound on acrylic-based polymers. These products, marketed by the company under the Flexbond® and Flexcryl® trademarks, are used for both adhesives and pressure sensitive adhesives applications.
  • An increase on several offerings in Air Products Polymers' Vancryl®, Flexbond®, and Flexcryl® resins product line for the graphic arts industry. These individual price adjustments include three cents ($0.03) per wet pound on water-based styrene acrylic emulsions; six cents ($0.06) per dry pound on solid ink resins; two cents ($0.02) per wet pound on solution resins; and two cents ($0.02) per wet pound on colloidal polymers.

Air Products Polymers, L.P. is a joint venture between Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (Allentown, Pa., NYSE:APD) and Wacker-Chemie GmbH (Munich, Germany) that manufactures and distributes latex polymers.
