Electronics Equipment Solutions will Integrate Materials Delivery Product Portfolio
LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa. (April 1, 2003) — Air Products' Electronics Division (NYSE:APD) announced today the launch of a new business unit, Electronics Equipment Solutions. The new unit will offer customers from all over the globe flexible, cost-effective and contamination-free materials delivery solutions. As part of the company's vision to be the leading materials solution provider to the global electronics industry, Electronics Equipment Solutions consists of eight distinct product lines and will launch at least five new equipment solutions over the next several months.
The product lines contained under the Electronics Equipment Solutions umbrella include:
- GASGUARD™ Bulk Specialty Gas Systems (BSGS) which provide safe, reliable supply of specialty gas for large-volume customers;
- GASGUARD™ and GASKEEPER™ gas delivery systems, which include gas cabinets and valve manifold boxes encompassing the latest technologies in engineering, safety, materials selection, fabrication and controls;
- ChemGuard® delivery systems designed to maintain chemical purity, enhance safety of fab personnel, and target 100 percent process uptime by supplying continuous chemical to the process tool;
- Han Yang Technology Corporation (HYT) and gas jungles, which provide safe and reliable flow control of multiple gases and chemicals to the process tool chamber;
- HYT delivery system installation and service;
- QMAC® Analytical Systems which provide state-of-the-art analytical and monitoring capabilities for gas distribution systems;
- Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) software systems, and
- Schumacher temperature and flow control systems including ATCS, VMDOT™, an integrated turnkey system for accurate and repeatable delivery of liquid LPCVD sources, and MDOTTM which delivers a constant flow of chemical vapor to atmospheric process furnaces.
Electronics Equipment Solutions will manage the development, design, manufacturing, service and marketing of new equipment solutions and will operate from three major hubs to respond to global requests. The three main hubs include the Semiconductor Equipment Manufacturing Center (SEMC) in Allentown, PA. The second hub is HanYang Technology (HYT), which is located in Ansan, Korea, and is the country's leading semiconductor material delivery equipment manufacturer. In 1999, Air Products acquired a majority interest in HYT to further build on its electronics position in Asia. The third hub is in Carlsbad, CA.
In addition to these physical locations, Electronics Equipment Solutions will offer customers additional capability by working closely with TRiMEGA, a 50/50 joint venture between Air Products and the Kinetics Group, a leading provider of high-purity process systems to the electronics industry. This unique arrangement will provide turnkey project services associated with equipment manufacturers. The MEGASYS™ program, Air Products' popular total gas and chemical management service, will also support the Electronics Equipment Solutions model. The MEGASYS service allows customers to achieve more effective operations, greater technical innovations, improved safety and environmental protection, and lower device and ownership costs through higher yields and improved uptime.

In the coming months, Electronics Equipment Solutions will launch at least five new products leading up to a special unveiling at July's SEMICON® West trade show in San Francisco, CA.
