New security and quality features being introduced by Air Products
30 March 2006 – As a result of extensive research into the needs of European food manufacturers, Air Products is introducing a new range of Freshline® food grade cylinders which provide enhanced security and quality features.
Air Products' gases are used in a range of applications from carbonating drinks to Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP). A recent survey of food manufacturers and processors in Germany, France, Spain, Benelux and the UK identified a clear demand for tamper-proof cylinders. As a direct result, Freshline® cylinders now incorporate a shrink wrap system around the valve to give a clear indication as to whether product integrity has been compromised. In addition, the new cylinders now have a d istinctive painted body and guard colour (blue lilac) for clear and easy differentiation from industrial products.
The new Freshline® gas products are fully traceable from the production of liquefied bulk gases through to the filling and distribution of cylinders. Each cylinder is provided with its own batch numbered certificate of conformity within the shrink wrap which allows it to be traced back to its original production time and location and is linked to a full product analysis.
As a further safety feature each cylinder is fitted with a residual pressure valve (RPV) to stop back contamination of the gas. They are also painted to a high quality paint specification for superior hygiene and robustness.
