LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa. (November 6, 2007) – When Air Products (NYSE: APD) started-up its newest hydrogen fueling station in Seoul, Korea, it marked the fifth installation of its industry leading hydrogen fueling technology in the country. Air Products already has hydrogen fueling station technology operating in Korea for demonstration and research and development projects with the automobile, gas and oil industries. The newest station, officially placed on-stream Nov. 2, will continue to support the Korean government’s ongoing development of hydrogen as a clean and alternative fuel for the transportation industry.

"We commend the Korean government’s commitment to furthering the use of hydrogen for fueling automobiles. Globally, we have placed more Air Products fueling equipment in Korea than any country outside of the United States," said K. S. Koh, global applications and development manager for Air Products Korea. "Our projects in Korea show the versatility of our product offerings in this developing technology." Air Products Korea is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Air Products and was instrumental in the safe and successful start-up of each project.

An earlier Air Products hydrogen fueling station, also located in Seoul, began fueling automobiles in September. It was the first time a hydrogen fueling station with public access began operation in a metropolitan area in the country. Air Products’ fueling station technology in Korea includes hydrogen compression, storage and dispensing equipment, as well as its leading mobile fueler technology.

Air Products has more than 50 years of hydrogen experience and is on the forefront of hydrogen energy technology development. Air Products has placed over 70 fueling stations on-stream in 12 countries, including for mass transit fueling in Beijing, China for buses to be used to shuttle athletes and visitors for the 2008 Olympic Games. In addition to Korea and China, Air Products also has placed hydrogen dispensing equipment in Asia in Japan, Singapore and India. Air Products’ mobile fueler technology is in operation today in over 20 United States and worldwide locations. The versatile Air Products mobile hydrogen fueler comes complete with fuel storage and dispensing, and can be transported from location to location to provide hydrogen fueling for promotional demonstrations or remote endurance testing.  The fueler can be remotely monitored and is designed to ensure daily, around-the-clock hydrogen vehicle fueling availability.

Over 40,000 vehicle fuelings have already taken place using Air Products’ technology. As the world’s largest supplier of merchant hydrogen, Air Products is a leader in the development of the hydrogen infrastructure necessary to fuel hydrogen fuel cell and hydrogen internal combustion engine automobiles, HCNG (hydrogen/compressed natural gas) vehicles, and hydrogen powered forklifts, lift trucks and automated guided vehicles in the developing materials handling market. Air Products has an extensive patent portfolio with over 50 patents in hydrogen dispensing technology.
