19th December 2007 — The artistic skills of local school girl Zoe Williams aged nine, has helped Wrexham Maelor hospital’s children’s ward receive an extra special gift this Christmas - £1,000.
Helping employees and their families enter into the Christmas spirit, local company Air Products, recently ran a Christmas card competition for creative youngsters based on an ‘Around the World at Christmas’ theme.
Pulling a cracker and wowing the judges was entrant Zoe of Ysgol Bod Hyfrud primary school, Wrexham and daughter of Gary Williams a Field Engineer based in Air Products Ellesmere Port plant. Zoe not only got the chance to see her design on real Christmas cards but also got to decide which charity should receive a £1,000 cash festive present.
Krystyna Bates, Senior Nurse for Children's Services, commented:
“On behalf of all the team she is extremely grateful to Air Products for taking time out of their busy schedule to take part in charity work and to Zoe for choosing us. The money will be used to buy equipment for the ward which will benefit patients and their families. ”
Nicola Wilson, Air Products, added:
“Our Christmas card competition was a really festive way of supporting our employees, their families and a local charity. Zoe’s entry was a great design that really fitted the Around the World at Christmas theme and she’s a very worthy winner! We were also thrilled she chose Maelor’s children’s ward to receive our donation because of the invaluable work they do.” |
