How do I maintain wetting in my waterbased pressure-sensitive adhesives while avoiding water-sensitivity and foam issues? |
| |

|
Coating water-based PSAs onto hydrophobic substrates requires a surfactant that provides excellent dynamic surface tension reduction to obtain intimate contact and wetting of the PSA to the release liner. Reverse gravure applications can magnify defects such as dewetting, retraction and cratering. One product shown to provide excellent dynamic surface tension reduction and promote a defect-free coating is Surfynol® PSA-336 surfactant. It improves wetting on release liners, reduces foam generation, and does not gel during dilution. These attributes, in addition to its compliance with several FDA regulations, make it an ideal choice for waterborne PSA and flexible packaging adhesives. In filmic label adhesives and other applications where zero water sensitivity and foam are required, Surfynol 440 surfactant is an ideal surfactant. |
