Air Products and Chemicals, Inc.--Products--Equipment--CryoMachinery--Products--Low-Pressure Expanders

low-pressure expanders

Turbomachinery is essential to the success of any cryogenic process. CryoMachinery's radial inflow turboexpanders provide refrigeration for some of the most efficient air separation facilities in the world. At CryoMachinery, we have been dedicated to providing high value and reliable expansion and compression products for over 40 years. High value is the result of world-class efficiency and low-cost designs that are delivered to our customers on time. Reliability results from proven designs which are easy to operate and maintain. Because we are part of a company that builds and operates its own process plants, we understand the expectations of customers who operate their own facilities. CryoMachinery is ready to meet your next cryogenic equipment need.

Typical application

Low-pressure (270 psig or less) turboexpanders are used to provide refrigeration for gas-producing cryogenic separation plants. The expander extracts work from a low-pressure gas stream providing refrigeration to the process. The work removed from the gas stream by the expander is used to provide compression power to the cycle. Often applied in plants producing large volumes of gaseous products in demanding industries, these applications require proven reliability and high efficiency in a cost-effective package.

CryoMachinery's family of process compressor-loaded expanders is ideal for applications where power and capital cost are evaluated highly. Advanced design tools and capabilities, combined with streamlined project management processes, allow for the best match between efficiency and capital investment.

CryoMachinery offers process compressor-loaded expanders with either fixed-geometry, oil-lubricated bearings or our patented compliant foil gas bearings. Each design has its own application niche based on its unique benefits. The elimination of the lubrication system and associated installation costs combined with a very compact, highly reliable expander design making the gas bearing models a cost-effective choice for lower volumetric flow services. Units furnished with oil-lubricated bearings offer a rugged cost-effective alternative for higher-flow applications.
