Department of Energy – Las Vegas The City of Las Vegas project for the Department of Energy (DOE) was five-year demonstration project that included an on-site hydrogen reformer, backup liquid hydrogen, a fuel cell for power generation to base-load the reformer, and high pressure fueling for both hydrogen and hydrogen/ natural gas blend vehicles. A consortium of three members including, Air Products, Plug Power LLC, and the City of Las Vegas executed the project. Air Products was the prime contractor and had overall responsibility for the project. Specific responsibilities included: hydrogen supply, refueling station design, sub-system integration, environmental and safety planning/coordination, and overall project/construction management.
