We have completed security vulnerability assessments (SVAs) and security improvement plans for all of our global facilities, as well as for pipeline, international and land transportation. The Global Security Standards we have put in place also enable us to meet security requirements for new facilities.
Chemical AntiTerrorism Standard (CFATS ) Our security and process safety teams remain actively engaged in the CFATS effort, completing Top Screens and SVAs for the covered facilities. Upon tier-level notification from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for each site, we will complete Site Security Plans and participate in DHS audits of the facilities. We believe the work we have completed to comply with the ACC’s Security Code will greatly reduce the need for additional security upgrades at these U.S. facilities.
U.S. Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT ) Programs We will be revalidated in C-TPAT during 2009 following foreign and domestic site audits to assess our commitment and compliance.
Transportation Security Under our EH&S Corporate Risk Management Process, our Transportation Risk Team evaluates all DOT 2.3 chemicals and completed assessments on 13 products during 2008. This included evaluating package size, shipment frequency, route, carriers, emergency response capability and Responsible Care elements in the supply chain. We also have completed safety and security audits of all of our contract carriers that haul our hazardous materials. In addition, we completed SVAs on all of our modes of transportation, including truck, ship and rail.
Emergency Preparedness We have emergency response plans in place at all of our plant sites and mandatory employee training requirements that are tailored to the level of response. Our Global Crisis Management Plan includes: |
- Global and regional crisis management teams
- Crisis management training programs
- Quarterly crisis management meetings
- Annual and site-specific drills/tabletops
|
- Facility database populated with critical information for all global sites
- Pandemic planning
- 24/7 Security Operations Center
- Employee Emergency Line
