Recently, William Perkins visited Monfort Boys Town and presented them with a RM 5000 donation for their welding shop. Monfort Boys Town is located in Shah Alam, Malaysia; a suburb of Kuala Lumpur. Enrollment is 290-320 boys ages 16-18. The program is run by The Brothers of Saint Gabriel and there are 60 people on staff. For over 40 years they have served poor and underprivileged youths. The goal of the program is to provide residential care and counseling services, to teach vocational skills and to help the boys to become contributing members of society.
Perkins selected this organization because one of Air Products' priority areas is to provide opportunities to underprivileged children and youth-at-risk to improve educational outcomes while the children are young enough to make a significant positive difference. Special thanks to Jerry Chin for bringing this organization to the company's attention and for arranging the product and safety workshop.
