As part of our Responsible Care Program and continuing with our adopted community slementary school "Heroes de Nacozari", APR and the Municipal Government from San Juan del Rio developed and implemented a 3 R's program in the school to increase the environmental awareness in the kids. APR provided collection drums: Blue - Plastic, Green - Organic, Yellow – Paper, White – Glass, Grey – Aluminum, and Orange – Other. The local Municipal Services will collect and recyle wastes, returning the money to the school for maintenance projects. The school and APR will be posting interesting and related communications periodically to motivate the students and to highlight the importance of these activities for our environment. The Air Products Resinas team will follow up periodically to review the effectiveness of this program
The program had only been implemented in universities in SJR and this is the first elementary school in Queretaro with this program. Now, school kids are highly motivated and their comments and attitudes towards this program show the beginning of the implementation of a new culture in Mexico. The kids have even asked their parents to buy different containers so that they can separate the garbage at home. (Contributed by Jorge E. Cruz, EH&S Manager)
