As part of Air Products' long-standing partnership with Sheridan Elementary School, an inner-city school in Allentown, the Growing With Science program was developed. During the 2001–02 school year, 10 demonstrations (2 each for all students grades 1 through 5) were developed by teams of employees and educators to reinforce math standards with hands-on, science-related activities. Based on positive student feedback, the school is enthusiastic about expanding the program to cover science standards, which will be a part of the next series of standardized tests the students will take. Air Products has agreed to develop a series of activities for grades 1 through 5, focused on science standards, for the 2002–03 school year. These new demonstrations will be presented along with the existing ones, for a total of 15 sessions in the 2002–03 school year. GWS operates with approximately 35–40 Air Products employee volunteers.
