In October 2007, General Electric (GE) honored Air Products’ Calvert City, Kentucky cogeneration facility with the 2006 Return On Environment (ROE) Leadership Award for improving our environmental operating performance. The award, one of just 34 given globally, recognizes our contribution to environmental commitment and sustainability.

In 2006, Air Products Calvert CoGen reduced fuel and salt usage and makeup and wastewater, improved reliability, and more. Improvements in processes at Calvert CoGen resulted in significant water and wastewater savings: 106 million gallons/year and 12 million gallons/year, respectively.

In operation since 2000, the CoGen facility uses modern gas turbine and heat recovery technologies to efficiently produce electricity and steam.

GE says, "Air Products CoGen is in the top one percent of GE customers being honored for striking a positive balance between today’s environmental, industrial and sustainability challenges. Projects like this help reinforce the trust you place in GE to help you deliver economic and environmental impact in your community. Together we are building a better tomorrow."

What's more, both the Calvert CoGen employees (representatives and delivery specialists) and the GE representatives and delivery specialists had zero safety incidents, zero permit violations, and no lapses in required training.
