(February 2008) Air Products’ Healthcare team in Ireland recently was awarded ISO 13485, a quality standard specifically for companies which deal with medical devices. The accreditation, granted by the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI), requires companies to develop and maintain a detailed quality management system including processes, documents and manuals. It also specifies skills, experience, and training levels for people and sets out standards for business premises and tools.

“The NSAI auditor who carried out the assessment mentioned that it’s quite rare for a service organisation to achieve the prestigious ISO 13485 standard,” said Declan Weldon, general manager for Healthcare, UK & Ireland.

“This is a top class achievement,” he added. “It raises the bar for all of our competitors and helps secure a standard of service for patients. The award is also a testimony to the quality of the team, who has worked extremely hard to make this happen.”
