Air Products' Cycling Team Rides for a Cure for MS

Air Products' Cycling Team

The MS150 Pennsylvania Dutch Bike Ride event benefits the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society, helping raise funds to provide services and fund continued research toward a cure. In honor of the event's 20th anniversary, the tour (July 21 and 22, 2007) went back to its Pennsylvania Dutch roots, creating an incredibly scenic and fully supported ride beginning at Green Lane Park, Pennsylvania and ending in Millersville, Pennsylvania. Air Products' Air Dudes Cycling Team, which has been riding in this event for all 20 years, chose to ride a 50, 75 or 100 mile route each day through the country roads and Amish farmlands of historic Chester and Lancaster counties.

Sporting their impressive Air Products cycling jerseys and shorts, the Air Dudes tackled incredibly hilly terrain—7,100 feet of elevation. Cyclists trained for months to prepare for the event, and many rode what's called the "Double Dutch"—a total of 200 miles! Most riders rolled out of Green Lane by 7:30 a.m. and into Millersville between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. An awards ceremony honoring all of the cyclists and volunteers recognized the Air Dudes team with the coveted "Largest Team" award, with a total of 26 riders. The Air Dudes and their dedicated sponsors raised over $17,000 for MS.

The tradition of making LIN cream (ice cream made using fresh ingredients frozen with liquid nitrogen) at the end of the ride was, as usual, a big hit. Air Products team members served up several favorite LIN cream recipes for a constant stream of cyclists, volunteers, family and friends.
