In late 2006, Air Products Korea established a social service club named "Heemangkong." Meaning "bean with hope" in Korean, Heemangkong started with only eight members and has increased to 40 full-time participants and more than 100 supporters within 10 months.
The goal is to make the local community a better place to live and work; enhance relationships with community leaders; and build employee morale, teamwork and productivity.
The club has organized some regular charitable activities such as visits to Cheonae Rehabilitation House for the mentally and physically disabled. Club members have delivered basic necessities, watched movies and taken city tours with the disabled on a regular basis.
Heemangkong is run by funds from volunteer members who deduct 10,000 Korean Won (about US$10) from their salary every month. |
