John W. Marsland was appointed senior vice president and general manager, Merchant Gases, in October 2011. He has overall responsibility for developing and implementing strategy for Air Products’ global merchant gases business. He also is a member of the company’s Corporate Executive Committee.

Mr. Marsland joined Air Products in 2002 as directorBusiness Development, and in 2003 he was named vice president, Corporate Development Office. He was appointed vice president and general manager, Healthcare, in 2005, with responsibility for the commercial and operational activities of Air Products’ healthcare business globally. In 2006 Mr. Marsland assumed overall responsibility for the company’s global healthcare business, including developing and implementing strategy, technology development and medical policy. Mr. Marsland was named vice president, Business Services, in 2008, where he led the company’s efforts to streamline business support services globally, and in 2009 he became vice president and general manager, Global Liquid Bulk, Generated Gases and Helium. He was appointed senior vice president, Supply Chain, in 2010 and senior vice president and general manager, Electronics, Performance Materials and Supply Chain, in 2011.

Prior to joining Air Products, Mr. Marsland was employed by The Stanley Works where he had worked since 1999 as director, Financial Planning and Analysis, and subsequently, director, Finance–Mergers & Acquisitions. Before joining The Stanley Works, Mr. Marsland worked for GE, where he graduated from their Financial Management Program, was a member of their Corporate Audit Staff for five years, and held leadership positions within their Global Treasury, Asian Finance and Global Supply Chain organizations.

Mr. Marsland was born in Reading, Pa. He graduated with High Distinction from Babson College in 1988 with a B.S. degree in finance and investments. In the community, Mr. Marsland serves on the board of directors of KidsPeace.
