Merchant Gases-North America
Nelson Squires was appointed vice president and general manager, Merchant Gases-North America, in February 2012. He is responsible for the growth and profitability of the company’s Merchant Gases business in the U.S. and Canada.
Mr. Squires joined Air Products in 1989 as a sales engineer in Northern California’s Silicon Valley. He became a focus account manager for the company’s Electronics business in 1991, and in 1997 relocated to Allentown where he was named Eastern region manager for the business. From 2001-2003 Mr. Squires managed the alliances and acquisitions program for Electronics, helping to implement its aggressive growth plans. In 2003 he became general sales manager for North America Gases, responsible for all merchant gas and liquid bulk selling activities within the region. Mr. Squires was named director of Investor Relations in 2006 and vice president, North America Merchant Gases, in 2010.
Mr. Squires was born in 1961 in Waterbury, Conn. He received a bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University in 1983 and served as an officer in the United States Army from 1983-1987.
Mr. Squires is an active member of the local chapter of the Boy Scouts of America.
