nCtrl (also known as “Ship-To Control”) is defined as “reducing variations from container to container for semiconductor materials by developing specifications based on statistically generated Upper Control Limits (UCLs).”
The semiconductor industry is pursuing specifications based on statistical rules and methods. Air Products is actively supporting the SEMI Statistical Methods Task Force as they work to develop a consistent method for calculating control limits. Because there are several traditional statistical methods that haven't been used to calculate control limits, Air Products has a strong interest in the work being done by the SEMI Task Force, which includes representation by both suppliers and customers, all working together to develop a consistent global standard.
Air Products approach is to begin with products that we have complete control over, those are the products that we manufacture and purify. Additional products and offerings will be added as our processes are fine tuned and we work with our suppliers to implement this program. Air Products nCtrl materials will provide specifications set to control limits. There will be no need for customer notification of OOC (Out of Control) material as only material nCtrl will be shipped.
Air Products understands the importance of this program to our customers, and that it’s vital to them to minimize variability and receive consistent products to help them reduce their process risks. Our nCtrl material is the solution to providing high purity materials with reduced variation between containers based on our manufacturing, analytical and technical expertise while using a common industry standard to calculate the control limit specifications.
