SFC is similar to gas chromatography and liquid chromatography, but uses liquid Carbon Dioxide as the mobile phase so the flow path is highly pressurized. Since SFC is often used to analyse low concentrations of compounds, the purity of the CO2
is important. SFC can utilise a variety of detector methods including Flame Ionization Detector, Flame Photometric Detector, Electron Capture Detector and Mass Spectrometer, so the correct detector gas is also required (please see Gas Chromatography
