Pairing dynamic and equilibrium wetting for superior performance

DynolTM 960 and Dynol 980 superwetting surfactants

The application of waterborne coatings, inks and adhesives on difficult-to-wet substrates such as wood, plastics and films presents significant challenges for coatings formulators. Choosing a proper surfactant is critical for maximizing wetting and minimizing defects such as pinholes, edge retraction and orange peel.

Air Products developed Dynol 960 and Dynol 980 superwetting surfactants to meet the growing need for high-performance surfactants. These products are uniquely designed siloxane-based superwetting agents that have the ability to reduce both equilibrium and dynamic surface tension. The chart below highlights recommendations for these products by application.

The excellent balance of properties makes Dynol 960 and Dynol 980 surfactants the wetting agents of choice for difficult-to-wet substrates requiring low foam and excellent compatibility, with good flow and leveling under diverse application conditions.
