Air Products’ proprietary inert gas blanketing technologies can reduce metal oxidation during melting operations, resulting in lower alloy costs and improved melt cleanliness and quality. Reduced metal oxidation also results in less slag which can provide the added benefits of lower disposal costs and extended crucible life. We have demonstrated that our patented blanketing technologies can reduce oxygen concentration above the melt surface to as low as 1% while using up to 50% less inert gas than conventional molten metal blanketing techniques. Our applications engineers can help you determine which blanketing technology and type of inert gas should be the most effective and economical for your operation.
