Piped Medical Oxygen
Air Products Medical can supply piped medical
oxygen in a variety of ways depending upon your oxygen consumption
needs and site specifications:
Duplex System
- suited to large general hospitals (i.e. 300
beds plus* or hospitals with critical supply parameters) - a large
storage tank containing medical liquid oxygen using a smaller tank
as a back-up.
Simplex System
- suited to smaller general hospitals (i.e. 100 beds plus*)
- a medium-sized storage tank containing medical liquid
oxygen, using a medical oxygen cylinder manifold as back-up.
Minitank System
- suited to smaller hospitals and hospices that
have a requirement for continuity of supply (i.e. 20 beds plus*) - a
small storage tank containing medical liquid oxygen, backed-up by a
medical oxygen cylinder manifold.
Cylinder Manifold
- suited to small hospitals, hospices or
nursing homes (i.e. those hospitals with a pipeline system) - two
banks of medical oxygen cylinders are coupled to an automatic
changeover panel, and are backed-up by a medical oxygen Emergency
Stand-by Manifold (ESM).

Medical liquid oxygen Duplex System:
Our Duplex System is typically suited to larger general hospitals
(i.e. 300 beds plus* or hospitals with
critical supply parameters), looking to eliminate manual cylinder
handling, limit maintenance, and benefit from the peace of mind
provided by a 24-hour remote monitoring system.
The Duplex System
- consists of a large storage tank containing medical liquid oxygen, backed-up
by a smaller storage tank providing a continuous supply.
Nationwide delivery
- we deliver medical liquid oxygen throughout England, Scotland and Wales 365
days a year.
Gases compliant with the European Pharmacopoeia standards
- product licence numbers PL 6183/0001 (liquid oxygen) and PL 6183/0011 (oxygen cylinders).

Medical liquid oxygen Simplex System:
Our Simplex System is typically suited to
smaller general hospitals (i.e. 100 beds plus*) that don't have the
consumption to warrant a large main tank and back-up tank, yet are
still looking for an uninterrupted supply, reduced manual cylinder
handling, limited maintenance, and peace of mind provided by 24-hour
remote monitoring.
The Simplex System consists of a
storage tank containing medical liquid oxygen, backed-up by a
medical oxygen cylinder manifold.
Automatic cylinder back-up
- the Simplex System provides peace of mind from an
uninterrupted supply and back-up system, that automatically switches
in and sounds an alarm. Once the cylinders have switched to the
second reserve bank, a further alarm will sound.
Nationwide delivery
- we deliver medical oxygen throughout England, Scotland and Wales 365 days a year.
Gases compliant with the European Pharmacopoeia standards
- product licence numbers PL 6183/0001 (liquid oxygen) and PL 6183/0011 (oxygen cylinders).

Medical liquid oxygen Minitank Systems:
Air Products Medical offers two Minitank Systems:
Our Minitank Systems are typically suited to smaller
hospitals and hospices that don't have the space for a larger main
tank and back-up system (i.e. 20 beds
plus*). They are looking for a compact system that reduces manual
cylinder handling and provides a safe, uninterrupted supply.
The 950 litre Minitank System
- consists of a small 950 litre storage tank containing medical liquid
oxygen. This is backed-up by a cylinder manifold. The 950 litre
tanks are smaller versions of the larger vessels e.g. Duplex,
Simplex, Minitank tanks used by general hospitals. They require less
installation work but perform similar functions.
Compact footprint
- the 950 litre tank requires an area of 2 x 3 m (the tank needs to be located outside).
Tank capacity equivalent to over 118 J sized cylinders
The 230 litre Minitank System
- consists of a small 230 litre storage tank
containing medical liquid oxygen. This is backed-up by a cylinder
manifold. The 230 litre tanks are essentially liquid cylinders.
Compact Footprint
- the 230 litre tank requires an area of 2 x 1.5 m.
Tank capacity equivalent to 28 J sized cylinders*
Nationwide delivery
- we deliver medical liquid oxygen throughout England, Scotland and Wales
365 days a year using a fleet of small cryogenic tankers to minimise
access issues.
Gases compliant with the European
Pharmacopoeia standards
- product licence numbers PL 6183/0001 (liquid oxygen) and PL 6183/0011
(oxygen cylinders).

Medical oxygen Cylinder Manifolds:
Our oxygen Cylinder Manifold System is
typically installed at small hospitals, hospices and nursing homes
(i.e. those hospitals with a pipeline system*). The cylinder system
ensures a safe, uninterrupted supply, with high-pressure cylinders
ensuring that the system takes up as little space as
possible.
Air Products' medical oxygen Cylinder Manifolds
consist of two banks of medical oxygen cylinders
coupled to an automatic changeover panel, backed-up by a small
medical oxygen Emergency Stand-by Manifold (ESM).
Higher-pressure cylinders
- L sized medical oxygen cylinders which are the same size as J sized cylinders, but
are filled to 200 bar instead of 137 bar. This means that L sized
cylinders contain 56% more gas, so the cylinder bank will last longer.
Automatic cylinder back-up
- the oxygen cylinder manifold provides an uninterrupted supply from 200
bar L size cylinders. The back-up system automatically switches in
and sounds an alarm. Once the cylinders have switched to the second
reserve bank, a further alarm will sound.
Nationwide
delivery
- we deliver medical liquid oxygen throughout
England, Scotland and Wales 365 days a year.
Gases compliant with the European Pharmacopoeia standards
- product licence numbers PL 6183/0001 (liquid oxygen) and PL
6183/0011 (oxygen cylinders).
