Air Products was one of the first multinational gas companies to enter the China market and set up its first joint venture in 1987 in Shekou, Shenzhen. Since then, the company has been expanding its business and investment in China to become a leading supplier in the market serving a diversity of industries, including food processing, steelmaking, glass production, water treatment, semiconductors, flat panel displays, photovoltaics, refinery, construction and coatings, just to name a few!

  • First industrial gas company to establish a world-scale technology center of its kind in 2005 in Shanghai Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Industrial Park serving the Asia region. Partnering on innovative technologies with:

  • First to build an air separation unit using environmentally beneficial liquefied natural gas cold energy – unique partnership with subsidiary of China National Offshore Oil (CNOOC), among the world's largest state-owned oil companies and leading offshore oil and gas producer

  • First and biggest ultra high-purity ammonia plant serving LED (light-emitting diode) industry supplying Anhui Sanan OptoElectronics, China's largest high quality LED manufacturer; 2,000 tons annual capacity, to be doubled by mid-2012

  • World's largest on-site air separation unit award supplying Shaanxi Future Energy – 12,000 tons annual oxygen capacity for 1 million tons of clean coal to chemical production; operational in 2014

  • Hydrogen-powered shuttle buses for world's largest sports competitions

  • World's longest and highest highland train, the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, provides enriched oxygen to passengers via gas generators equipped with Air Products' PRISM membrane separators
