Grind Aids

Air Products’ grind aids are designed to improve the pigment milling process. Based on combinations of dynamic wetting and stabilizating surfactant chemistries, these additives are typically used in conjunction with a dispersing polymer or grind resin to provide enhanced pigment wetting, dearation, milling efficiency, and dispersion stabilization. These additives are often used to enhance dispersion performance as well, reducing pigment shock and destabilization problems in letdown.

Carbowet 13-40

An ethoxylated nonionic surfactant (70% active liquid; HLB: 17.8). Carbowet 13-40 surfactant is an APE-free alternative to 30 - 40 mole alkyl phenol ethoxylate-based surfactants in waterborne coatings, inks, and adhesives systems. Carbowet 13-40 surfactant provides substrate wetting, pigment wetting and stabilization, and emulsification in a wide range of applications and polymer systems. Solvent and APE-free.

Carbowet 300

An ethoxylated nonionic pigment grind aid and wetting agent (HLB: 18.2). Carbowet 300 surfactant is a multifunctional surfactant that offers improved dispersion and viscosity stability in resinated pigment dispersions for waterborne coatings, inks, and adhesives systems. Carbowet 300 surfactant provides improved color stability and color acceptance for enhanced rub-up as well as emulsification in a wide range of applications and polymer systems. Solvent and APE-free.

Carbowet DC01

An ethoxylated nonionic surfactant (80% active solution in water). Carbowet DC01 surfactant is a proprietary formulation designed as an APE-free replacement. Provides performance comparable to APE and modified APE chemistries in architectural and other coatings systems. FDA clearances, solvent and APE-free. THIS PRODUCT IS NOT AVAILABLE IN ALL REGIONS. EnviroGem® 2010

A nonionic pigment grind aid and wetting agent (88% active liquid in water). EnviroGem 2010 is a multifunctional, low foaming propietary additive that provides rapid substrate and pigment wetting and is an environmentally preferable alternative to APE-containing surfactants. A low viscosity, easy-to-handle liquid with a pour point of 0°C and a cloud point 70°C. Provides improved color development and tint strength, improved freeze-thaw stability and excellent scrub resistance. EPA and FDA clearances, solvent and APE-free.

Surfynol CT-111

A nonionic pigment grind aid and wetting agent (83% active liquid in water). Surfynol CT-111 surfactant is a proprietary additive designed for pigmented systems that provides low-foam pigment and substrate wetting and can significantly improve the milling process and pigment color development when used with dispersants or grind resins in aqueous dispersions and other aqueous systems. Solvent-free version of Surfynol TG additive that was tailored for greater wetting and less stabilization compared to CT-121. Best suited for inorganic and less polar organic and carbon black pigments. EPA and FDA clearances.

Surfynol CT-121

A nonionic pigment grind aid and wetting agent (70% active liquid in water). Surfynol CT-121 surfactant is a proprietary additive designed for pigmented systems that provides low foam pigment and substrate wetting and can significantly improve the milling process and pigment color development when used with dispersants or grind resins in aqueous dispersions and other aqueous systems. Solvent-free version of Surfynol GA TG additive that was tailored for greater stabilization and less wetting compared to CT-111. Best suited for more polar organic and inorganic pigments. EPA and FDA clearances.

Surfynol CT-211

A nonionic pigment grind aid and wetting agent (83% active liquid in water). Surfynol CT-211 surfactant is a proprietary additive designed for pigmented system. Provides low-foam pigment and substrate wetting and can significantly improve the milling process and pigment color development when used with dispersants or grind resins in aqueous dispersions and other aqueous systems. EPA and FDA clearances and APE-free.

Surfynol CT-221

A nonionic pigment grind aid and wetting agent (70% active liquid in water). Surfynol CT-221 surfactant is a proprietary additive designed for pigmented systems that provides low-foam pigment and substrate wetting. Can significantly improve the milling process and pigment color development when used with dispersants or grind resins in aqueous dispersions and other aqueous systems. Surfynol GA

A nonionic pigment grind aid and wetting agent (70% active solution in water and ethylene glycol). Suryfnol GA surfactant is a proprietary additive designed for pigmented systems.
