Liquefying natural gas using an open-loop reverse brayton natural gas refrigeration cycle where vapor liquid separator is located at the top of a coil wound heat exchanger. The liquid is removed and combined with the main LNG circuit while the vapor is used at the refrigerant for the bundle. Precooling of both the natural gas and recycled refrigerant occurs in a high-pressure expander, eliminating the need for large pre-cooling heat exchangers. Utilizing this method of liquefaction can provide various benefits such as improved efficiency, reduced capital cost, and reduced footprint.

An advancement in the end flash system equipment

The combined end flash drum and a coil wound exchanger reduces the overall footprint and eliminates the need for large diameter back-end piping. This system is more efficient because of a reduced pressure drop of the lower pressure stream.
